Perfect Promises

Recent research revealed some disturbing facts about many Christians today. Many are confused. Many have developed deceptive ideas. Many are familiar with Jesus’ command to make disciples. But the evidence indicates that churches are full of “many converts, but shockingly few disciples.” For example, “when Christian adults were asked to identify their most important goal for their life, not a single person said it was to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ or to make disciples of Christ.”

Why do so many Christians have wrong ideas? There is a shocking lack of knowledge about the Bible. The research revealed that the most widely known “Bible verse” among both adult and teen Christians is “God helps those who help themselves.” Unfortunately, this is not in the Bible and actually conflicts with the basic message of Scripture.

How do we know the right path? How do we develop discernment? How do we become strong and mature in the faith? By filling our hearts and minds with God’s Word.

If we are to receive His covenant promises, we must know His Word! We must hide the Word in our hearts and study it, immerse ourselves in it. The Bible needs to be in our mind as we start the day, when we lie down to sleep, and in every waking minute. These principles are true no matter how long you have been a believer. Pledge to hide His Word in your heart!
