Overcoming Stress

For many people, the Christmas season is filled with contradictions. While singing carols about joy, they actually feel high levels of anxiety. Their schedules may be packed with special functions but, in reality, they feel lonely. They may know that the angels sang about peace on earth, but their hearts are dominated by pressures and stress. Just thinking about their schedules and expectations causes anxiety and tension.

The fact is that stress dominates life for many people, through this season and throughout the year. Studies confirm that stress levels are higher than ever. Huge numbers of workers are dissatisfied with the stress they feel on the job. The hectic activities of the Christmas season can intensify this stress. Many are so busy they don’t have time to experience peace and joy.

The Bible says that we have a choice, that we don’t have to live this way. We can find peace as we surrender our lives to Jesus and make Him our Lord. As we remember that God already knows everything we need. That we trust Him to take away our stress and give us supernatural peace. As we seek first His Kingdom and throw all our cares on Him.

If you feel stress or pressure, stop to pray. Confess the verses that make this season so special. The birth of the Savior. God’s message of peace. The amazing demonstrations of His sovereignty. Remember that all His promises are true, that He really has a plan for you.

You don’t have to carry stress and burdens. You can trust Him. He really can give you peace.
