Moses’ Desperate Prayer

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

Moses knew that he was vulnerable. He had gone up on the mountain to be alone with God, sure that he had left his people safely in the hands of his brother, Aaron. But soon after Moses left them, Aaron and the other Israelites turned their back on the Lord, embracing idol worship and a pagan lifestyle.

As Moses dealt with the implications of these dreadful actions, he had a renewed understanding of how much he needed God. He knew that God had chosen him to lead His people. He had heard the Lord’s voice, and he pursued an intimate relationship with Him. Yet now he needed to hear from God afresh! He sought Him with great humility, asking “that I may find grace in Your sight.”

God answered his prayer, but in a way he might not have anticipated. He must have hoped to receive specific guidance and a clear blueprint for what to do next. Instead, God simply responded, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Moses learned that God may not give us a detailed blueprint for the future. However, He promises to be with us in every situation. He will guide us every step of the way and, as we turn to Him and trust Him, He promises to give us rest. He will remove our anxiety, confusion, doubt, and fear, replacing them with His peace.

Like Moses, you can be assured of His promise to be with you, right now. And, as you seek Him, He will show you what to do next. Step-by-step. Day-by-day.
