Meaningful to You

Illustrating His sovereignty and work in creation, God described the Leviathan (Job 41:1-3). We may look at this passage and think that it merely reflects God’s power and greatness. But Job may have thought of this reference from another perspective.

In fact, Job himself actually first introduced the Leviathan in the context of his own experiences. This reference was part of His initial reaction to the troubles that afflicted him. His comments were filled with honest agony and a sense of hopelessness. He cursed the day he was born and even wished he were dead. It was in this context that Job mentioned the Leviathan. This creature clearly intrigued him.

It was not an accident that God later used Leviathan as an illustration of His power, authority, and creativity. And He explained His role in the world using that same creature. Through this reference, God was demonstrating to Job that He paid attention to what was important to Job. He cared about him and was listening. Here we see that there are no accidents with God. He knows what we say and what is meaningful to each of us.

In your life, you can be confident that He is listening to you. He is sensitive to your needs and concerned about you. And He speaks in ways that are meaningful to you as an individual. Be sensitive to His leading. Trust Him. Allow Him to speak to you.
