Making All Things New

He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”—Revelation 21:5 NASB

Many people today are discouraged. In fact, a recent poll discovered that men and women are more discouraged than in the past. Many expect their lives to get worse. Discouragement spreads with the observation that the world is filled with problems. Many are confused, worried, and afraid. There don’t seem to be answers, no matter who is in power or what governments do.

It can be easy to become discouraged and feel pessimistic. But those who know God and are guided by His Word can have hope and be encouraged in any situation.

In the vision God gave John, he saw a new Heaven and earth where God reigned, and His presence was everywhere. The first earth and all its problems passed away.

John also saw how much God cares about each of us. He knows our struggles and heartaches. He dwells with us, and we are His people. He understands our pains and the turmoil we endure. He even knows the tears we cry. And He promises to “wipe away every tear” from our eyes (v. 4).

In the new world that awaits us, He promises that there will no longer be any death or mourning. No crying or pain (v. 4). Everything will become new.

No matter what you face, don’t be dominated by troubles in the world. Don’t be discouraged or pessimistic. Have faith in God. Renew your trust in Him. He is making all things new!
