Light for Your Path

Every Believer should have a burning desire to know God’s will. Central to our commitment to follow Jesus is realizing that we cannot save ourselves—we need a Savior. We need forgiveness and His wisdom. Our lives are changed as we surrender to Him and follow Him, as we seek His guidance and direction for our health, finances, and every other area of our lives.

In this Psalm, we see that when we make a commitment to God, He promises to give us His “light.” But, it is interesting that this light is “sown … and strewn along their pathway.”

Naturally, we want God to give us a huge beacon that will beam brightly before us, night and day. We want a floodlight of guidance. We want to see everything clearly, right now, and to know exactly what we should do in the future, and what will happen to us.

Yet, as this Psalm makes clear, God often guides us in the form of light “strewn along our pathway.” It is unveiled partially and gradually, not handed down all at once. We learn more about His plan for our lives day by day, one step at a time.

Today, remember that God has a plan for your life. He longs to grant you wisdom and direction. But do not be discouraged or disappointed if He does not give you a complete blueprint for His plan all at one time. Concentrate on being an “uncompromisingly righteous” person, and “upright in heart.” As you obey Him in the things He has shown for you, and are faithful, He will sow His light along your pathway, step by step, and day by day.
