“Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream” (Amos 5:24).

In a world where people bend the truth to accomplish their own purposes, God cries out for people who will not compromise their commitment to Him and to His Word. In a world where people reject the idea of morality and insist they can do anything if it feels good or if they can get away with it, He looks for people who have higher standards.

The Bible tells us that God seeks people who are committed to justice and righteousness … who seek truth and obey Him in all circumstances … who are concerned about doing and saying the right things, regardless of how others react.

God doesn’t want us merely to desire these things; He wants them to dominate our lives. God doesn’t want justice merely to trickle throughout our thoughts and deeds; He wants it to “run down like water.”

The Lord doesn’t want the practice of doing right to be just a part of our lives; He wants righteousness to be “like an ever-flowing stream,” continually flooding our hearts and minds. He wants us to be overwhelmed with righteousness, allowing it to wash away everything unrighteous and ungodly.

Let God’s righteousness and justice sweep over you. Don’t allow anything to block the flow of His Spirit in your life. Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and let Him take care of the rest.
