Lack of Knowledge

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” – Hosea 4:6 NASB

“Knowledge is power,” concluded Sir Francis Bacon. Born in London in 1561, Bacon held several important government positions, including lord chancellor. His extensive knowledge enabled him to take advantage of opportunities, influence projects, and fulfill his God-given potential.

Bacon’s insights find a parallel in the spiritual realm, where God offers riches and blessings to all people. The Bible tells us, “Eye has not seen and ear has not heard … all that God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). We cannot even conceive of the vastness of these blessings.

Many believers fail to experience this potential because of a “lack of knowledge.” They don’t know so much. To begin to grasp God’s promised riches, we need to immerse our lives in His Word and deepen our relationship with Him. We must walk by faith and believe that His promises are true.

As God told Hosea, He has already provided answers. When we ignore His Word, we will not experience complete peace and rest, fulfillment and meaning, or joy and satisfaction. Without God-centered knowledge, we can easily seek the wrong goals and draw the wrong conclusions.

Today think about the promises of God, and realize they are true for you! Read His Word. Declare His truths. Seek Him. Don’t be content with less than all He has prepared for you. Believe that His Word really is true.
