Hope for the Hopeless

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

It sounds like a hopeless existence, with no promise of relief. In fact, later in life, Theodore Roosevelt recalled that “nobody seemed to think I would live.”

As a child, he experienced violent asthma attacks that frequently left him grasping for breath, terrified he would suffocate. The attacks caused painful side effects. He also suffered from chicken pox, measles, and mumps.

These complications limited his physical development. His heart was so weak that doctors advised him to get a desk job and not strain himself. He also had severe vision problems.

It would have been easy to stop trying. But Roosevelt would not give up. In fact, in many ways his resistance became foundational for his personality. He fought back and developed discipline and a vigorous lifestyle. He worked hard at overcoming his vision limitations, and developed a passion for the outdoors. It was this determination that helped propel him to a life of achievement, including being President of the United States.

Many people feel limited and even defeated by problems. Health issues. Financial limitations. Physical challenges. Struggling to respond, many give up and feel hopeless. They are like the woman who suffered for 12 years, and then spent all that she had trying to find a cure. But everything changed when she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. Immediately, she was healed.

Do you face a situation that seems hopeless? Don’t give up! Turn to Jesus. Stand on God’s promises. Dare to believe. Have faith in Him.
