God’s Standard

God told Isaiah about a standard that would be raised. This would be a symbol of the Lord and His irrefutable Word—the standard by which we’re to live and by which we’re judged.
God warned that this standard would be “raised on the mountains,” visible for all to see. But that wasn’t all. A trumpet would blow. Everyone would hear it and know that God was getting ready to act! Soon it would be harvest time!

In His parable of the tares (Matthew 13:24-43), Jesus said that “the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels.” Harvest indicates that crops will be gathered. But this also will be a time of pruning, separation, and judgment.

Jesus said there are tares (weeds) in the world, and these “are the sons of the evil one.” They’re growing all around us, causing confusion and spreading unrighteousness. But, in the harvest, everything will be separated, and the tares will be judged.

This is a warning for everyone on earth. God’s Word says there will be a day of judgment when everyone must give an account for what they’ve done.

Today, remember that God has an eternal plan for the ages and that He’s the Great Judge. Don’t be distracted by the world’s standards. Make sure to live according to His righteous standards that never change. Base your life on His Word. Watch and pray, always ready for the great harvest. And, while there’s still time, dedicate your life to warning others of this coming storm.
