God’s Promise of Peace

“I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down with no one making you tremble. I shall also eliminate harmful beasts from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.”-Leviticus 26:6 NASB

Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, God declared His desire to bless them. If they obeyed and served Him, He promised to meet their needs and protect them. But He also promised peace. The Hebrew word here suggests a life of health and prosperity, happiness and wonderful relationships.

This was not just a promise for those Israelites but God’s continuing promise for His people today. In every situation, He has promised to give us His peace, and free us from anxiety, worry, doubt, and fear. In fact, His Word tells us that He wants us to “prosper and be in good health” (3 John 1:2).

Paul prayed, “Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance” (2 Thessalonians 3:16). We need to realize that our God is the “Lord of peace.” What a wonderful thought!

Today, you may face difficult decisions, or have questions or doubts. You may be plagued with conflicts or worried about your finances. But the Bible tells us that we should not allow our lives to be dominated by circumstances. As we turn to God, He can give us His peace.

Start by focusing on God. Read and study the Bible. Think about those words and declare that His promises are true for you. Don’t allow yourself to be dominated by worries, problems, or fears. Don’t give in to distractions, but seek to be faithful to God’s call on your life. Spend time with Him in prayer, seeking Him until He gives you His peace.

Remember, you are serving the Lord of peace! And He desires that you be healthy, happy, and free from worry.

Prayer: Father, I pray that You would give me Your peace. Please remove my fears, doubts, or worries. I commit my life to You. Thank You that You are the Lord of peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
