God’s Promise of Length of Days

When we live by God’s Word, He grants length of days—bringing peace, productivity, and blessings beyond what time alone can give.

“My son, do not forget my teaching, but have your heart comply with my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.”—Proverbs 3:1–2 NASB

“I have too much to do.” “There aren’t enough hours in the day.” These words are often spoken in workplaces, churches, and homes. Those who are complaining may not realize that the help they need is found in a simple promise from the Bible.

The promise is that God will give us “length of days.” Although our days will still be only 24 hours, He can help us accomplish more than we thought possible. In fact, it can seem like we have more time, for He supernaturally makes us more efficient and productive.

How do we receive length of days? First, we must not forget God’s commandments! Second, we must obey them. It’s not enough just to know about the Bible or read it occasionally. Our minds must be filled with the Word, and we must put its principles into action.

If we do these two things, the Bible promises us length of days!

But there’s more! We are promised long life. He will give us His perspective, wisdom, understanding, favor, anointing, protection, and guidance. He also will give us His peace. Turmoil will be replaced by truth, anxiety and worry by confidence.

Do you want to be more productive? Do you want God’s peace and blessings? Fill your life with His Word. Read it. Study it. Meditate on it and obey it. Then watch as He gives you His peace and blesses you with length of days.
