God’s Design

If we ever doubt God’s plan and desires, we simply need to remember the world that He created. We see this embodied in the Garden of Eden. Here, God ruled, and there were no problems. It was a place of great beauty and abundance, where every need was met, and Adam and Eve could live in peace. Where they could experience the full benefits of creation.

There was only one restriction: They needed to obey Him, and not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they gave in to temptation, and failed to obey, everything changed. They were expelled, and no longer could live in the glorious garden God made for them.

Yet this garden still symbolizes the ideal life. It is a place where dreams and hopes are fulfilled. The ultimate expression of joy and peace, satisfaction, and pleasure.

Each of us may have our version of this ideal “garden,” but each garden on earth is complete with its trees of the knowledge of good and evil. But to remain in the place of maximum blessing and experience God’s fullest designs, we must follow His leading, resist temptation, and obey Him.

The Bible repeatedly reminds us of God’s desires for us. We know that He wants us to “be in good health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2). He has stated that His plan is to “prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). That is His desire for you!

In your life, remember that God desires to bless you, abundantly. But to experience this abundance, you need to cooperate with Him, not fight or resist. Obey Him. Trust Him. Seek to be sensitive to His leading.
