God Cares for You!

One of Job’s friends, Eliphaz, encountered something beyond his understanding: a spirit that came to him at night, causing him disquieting thoughts. Eliphaz trembled and was filled with dread. All of his bones shook (vs. 12-14).

What was the message of this spirit? It said, in effect, that God doesn’t really care about us, that we’re on our own, and that if we sin or make a mistake, God will judge us severely.

Eliphaz somehow believed that this message came from God. However, today we recognize that this messenger was a demonic spirit which caused Eliphaz to think in ways contrary to God’s Word. It conveyed a message of hopelessness and defeat, designed to discourage Job and prevent him from living in victory. Sadly, this is a message that many people believe today.

The Bible assures us that God never will leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), even if we go through difficult times or make mistakes. We may endure trials and tests, but through these circumstances, He strengthens us and teaches us new truths.

Yes, all of us “have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:10, 23). Yes, we all deserve death. But God offers us “the free gift” of “eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Today, God is with you in every situation you face. He loves you. Through Jesus, you can come to Him anytime and any place. You can be certain your sins are forgiven. Cast all of your cares on Him, “because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
