Glory to God

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name give glory. . .O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. . .He will bless those who fear the Lord, the small together with the great. May the Lord give you increase. . .May you be blessed of the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth. . .We will bless the Lord from this time forth and forever. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 115:1-18 NASB

Throughout the years, central to the celebration of Passover is the reading of the “Passover Psalms” (Psalms 113-118). Psalm 115 is the third of these psalms, providing a reminder of the impact of God’s deliverance, celebrated during Passover.

This psalm reminds us of all that God has done for His people, and over and over reminding us why we can trust in Him.

The psalm begins with a declaration that God should get all the glory. That He loves us, and is faithful. The nations may think He can’t help, but this psalm reminds us that God never abandons us. He always is there, watching, ready to help. In contrast, idols project the ideas and desires of men, but they can’t compare with our God!

He cannot be manipulated, and does whatever He “pleases.” We are reminded that He is our help and shield, that we can trust and be confident in Him. He knows what we go through, and promises to bless and reward all who honor and fear Him, both the great and small. God can deliver on every promise because He is the Creator, the Maker of everything.

In your life, always remember to praise God, during Passover, and throughout the year. Praise Him while you have breath. Bless Him at all times. Remember that you can trust Him! But don’t take His blessings for granted. And always give Him all the glory!

Prayer: Father, thank You for being with me. I place my trust in You. May my life bring You glory. I praise and worship You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
