Freedom From Fear

The psalmist had every reason to be afraid. Surrounded by enemies, it felt like they were swarming around him just like bees. He felt totally vulnerable, as if he were about to fall.

But in this midst of these problems he cried to the Lord and took refuge in Him. Then his attitude completely changed. He realized he did not have to fear any person or organization as long as he trusted in God. The Lord answered him by setting him free.

Today, you may feel that you are surrounded on every side. You may feel vulnerable, outnumbered, and unsure of what to do. God wants you to cry out to Him, take refuge in Him, and believe His promises, declaring them to be true in your life. Then He promises that you will have freedom from all fear.

The Bible is filled with promises of God’s protecting hand. Paul wrote that “the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

We can know that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea” (Psalm 46:1-2).

Today, no matter what you’re facing, do not be afraid. Do not allow fear to fill your heart. Instead, start declaring the promises of God in your life. He is your Rock, your Salvation, your Deliverer, your Shield, and your Strong Tower.
