Freedom from Fear

Freedom from Fear

The psalmist had every reason to be afraid. Surrounded by enemies, he felt like they were swarming around him. He felt vulnerable as if he was trapped with no possible escape.

But, in this midst of these dire circumstances, he cried to the Lord and took refuge in Him. Then his attitude completely changed. He realized he did not have to fear any person or organization as long as he trusted in God. He answered him and set him free.

Do you ever feel surrounded? Do you feel vulnerable, outnumbered, and unsure of what to do? You can cry out to God and take refuge in Him. Remember the promises in His Word. Declare them to be true for you. As you trust Him, He promises to free you from fear.

The Bible is filled with promises of God’s protection. Paul wrote that He is faithful and “will strengthen and protect you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3). We can know that He is “our refuge and strength” (Psalm 46:1). We can turn to Him for help when we are in trouble. Because of this trust, we have no reason to be afraid even if “the mountains slip into the heart of the sea” (Psalm 46:2).

No matter what you face, don’t be afraid. Instead, start declaring the promises of God. He is your rock, your salvation, your deliverer, your shield, and your strong tower. Trust in Him.
