Finding Faith

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Jesus was specific about many events that would take place around the time of His return. Yet He seemed uncertain if he would “find faith on the earth.”

His question reminds us of the importance of faith for the believer. We read how “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). If we want our prayers to be answered, we must ask in faith and not expect results if we have doubts (James 1:5-6).

We are justified in God’s sight not by the things we do but by faith (Romans 3:28). As believers, we are to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). We are to “live by faith in the Son of God” (Galatians 2:20).

This faith is central to enjoying the blessings of God’s Kingdom and releasing His power. Faith is necessary for a personal relationship with Him, and being filled with His Spirit. Without faith, Christianity becomes more of a social activity, a religion of rituals and rules.

Without faith, we doubt that God can answer prayers. We no longer have a relationship but become dominated by material things. We can question what we really believe.

The Bible is clear about the importance of faith, yet Jesus suggested that a time would come when there would be no evidence of genuine faith on earth, even among those who claimed to follow Him.

As you examine your life, can you say that you are walking by faith? Ask God to renew genuine faith for you. Put aside doubts and questions. Have the boldness to stand on His Word. To believe and trust Him. To be a person of faith!
