Faithfulness

Jeremiah’s faithfulness reminds us that our job is obedience, not results, and that God honors those who deliver His message with courage and trust.

“Speak … all the words that I have commanded you to speak to them. Do not omit a word! Perhaps they will listen and everyone will turn from his evil way, and I will relent of the disaster which I am planning.”—Jeremiah 26:2–3 NASB

Jeremiah was asked to deliver an uncompromising word to the leaders of Judah, all the while knowing that these men consistently had rejected such messages in the past. They had their own ideas and likely would reject this new message.

But God wanted Jeremiah to obey Him and deliver the word he’d been given, regardless of people’s response. The Lord told him, “Perhaps they will listen.” Jeremiah’s responsibility was simply to be a faithful messenger and deliver the word, leaving the results and the consequences to God.

This is a model for all who surrender their lives to the lordship of Jesus.

We are called to know Him and pursue an intimate personal relationship with Him. We must fill our lives with His Word, obey Him, fulfill His call on our lives, and be ready to deliver His message to our generation.

Make sure that you are found faithful … in everything God calls you to do. Be ready to deliver His words. Pray and intercede for others. Show love and compassion. Help relieve the burdens of the oppressed. Give generously from the resources you’ve been given.

Don’t give up or get discouraged if you don’t see immediate results or if others reject you. Seek to please God. Make sure you are faithful and obedient, and leave the results to Him.
