Faith and Boldness

To many, it seemed like the ultimate expression of foolishness. Others were afraid for his safety. Some admired his boldness.

These were reactions to the adventure that took place on this date in 1927, when Charles Lindbergh embarked on a challenge unprecedented in history: Attempting to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. His plane had no radio, and his journey took him over more than 5,000 miles of water.

This adventure galvanized worldwide attention, waiting for news. What would happen? Would he make it?

When Lindbergh landed in France after a flight of 33.5 hours, he became a worldwide hero. But this was only possible because he had the boldness to believe in what others thought was impossible.

Abraham, too, needed audacity and boldness “when God called him to leave home.” He had to be willing to leave everything behind that was comfortable, safe, and familiar. “He went without knowing where he was going,” believing that God’s promises were true.

Today, God has assignments for you that require faith. There may be reasons why you haven’t been willing to step out. The obstacles may seem overwhelming. The task may look impossible. The outcome may be uncertain. But, to accomplish God’s work, you need boldness and confidence in Him.

Do not be timid or afraid, but obey God and put your trust in Him. Ask the Lord to give you faith, and the boldness to believe that all things are possible with Him. Know that He will keep His Word!
