Every Offering

If you’re tempted to think that your offering doesn’t matter to God, rest assured that every offering makes a difference.

“Now the one who presented his offering on the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah.”—Numbers 7:12 NASB

We might wonder why the Bible would detail the offerings given by each tribe. As we read Numbers 7, the same patterns are repeated for each tribe, beginning with Nahshon of the tribe of Judah. Then Nethanel presented the offering for the tribe of Issachar, and so on. Couldn’t God have just summarized this for our convenience?

But this chapter contains important messages. We see that no one was left out. Every person from every tribe brought an offering. Every offering was important, and so was every person. The entire community watched as offerings were brought, giving everyone a chance to think about the significance of each element.

God provided symbols, principles, and pictures of powerful truths that are still true today. He wants us to realize He values every gift we bring to Him. He doesn’t get tired and never is in a hurry. He has time to listen to every prayer and receive each offering.

Today, remember that you are important to God. You’re not just a number, but someone special to Him! Your daily obedience and faithfulness are important. Each of us needs to do our part in bringing offerings to Him.

You have personal offerings to give Him from your time, talents, and treasures. Commit yourself to a more intimate relationship with Him. He genuinely cares, not just for everyone, but for YOU!
