Don’t Be Fooled by Deception

Deception. By definition, it is the practice of misleading somebody, making others think we will do one thing, but then doing another.

Frederick the Great, king of Prussia for four decades in the eighteenth century, loved deception. Never wanting his enemies to know his plans, in 1740 he scheduled a party on the evening before his troops were going to attack. As a result, his enemy became complacent and wasn’t ready. Frederick’s army won a great victory.

The Bible says that deception is central to Satan’s character. He wants us to wander away from the right course. He does not want us to be stable or committed to God, but to fool us into thinking that his ways are attractive. He promises excitement and pleasure. He seeks to deceive us into thinking the Bible is outdated. He does everything possible to keep us from experiencing God’s blessings.

In fact, Satan seeks to deceive “the whole world.” He will do anything to win. Lie. Cheat. Spread rumors. He succeeds when anyone believes his lies.

Today, remember that Satan desires to deceive you! Be on guard. Remember that through Jesus’ name you have power over him. Resist him, and he must flee from you. Put on the full armor of God. Take up the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Stand for Truth. Develop an intense prayer life. Don’t give in to deception!
