Do Not Doubt

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Do not doubt when circumstances seem hopeless. Like Moses, trust God is working even when you don’t see the outcome yet.

“Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done harm to this people, and You have not rescued Your people.”Exodus 5:22–23 NASB

Moses felt he had been obedient. God had sent him to lead His people to freedom, but after arriving in Egypt, Moses was rejected by Pharaoh and cursed by the people he had come to save. Understandably, he was confused.

Humanly speaking, he had every reason to doubt or give up. Everything appeared hopeless. In his frustration and uncertainty, he cried out to God: “You have not rescued Your people at all.”

But God told him, “I am the Lord” (Exodus 6:2). He wanted Moses to know that He wasn’t finished yet. In fact, He was only beginning. Moses would learn that God keeps His promises, but often in surprising and unexpected ways.

We, too, can face confusing or unexpected situations. We may feel like we’ve been obedient, yet our problems remain. We may experience delays and roadblocks that cause us to give up hope.

When facing difficult circumstances, many people allow their lives to be dominated by doubts and questions. Instead of moving forward in faith, they retreat, stop believing, become skeptical, or give in to uncertainty.

You may be faced with challenging situations today. If so, refuse to give up. Don’t give in to doubt or discouragement. Trust in God, for He “cannot lie” (Titus 1:2).

The Lord looks for people who will believe His Word and act on it. Don’t place your faith in circumstances, but in Him. He keeps His promises!

Reflection Question: How can you trust God when His timing is different from yours?
