Do Not Be Afraid

Knowing that his time was short, Moses delivered his last message to God’s people as their leader. It was a message filled with sound wisdom.

He reminded them that they would experience trials and uncertainties after entering the Promised Land. But he assured them that, no matter what they faced, God was with them. Moses promised that He “will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God drove this point home to Joshua, their new leader, reassuring him that He would be with him. That there was no reason to be afraid or discouraged.

No matter what they might face in the days to come, God said that they should not be afraid or terrified but rather “strong and courageous.” They needed to believe in Him, and go forward with faith and determination.

Knowing that Joshua soon would become Israel’s leader, Moses summoned him and gave the same charge to him personally. One can feel the intensity as Moses addressed his successor: “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land.”

This message applies to all believers. It applies to you! He has given you things to do, and the power to do them. He has given you His promises. He already has gone ahead of you into every situation. And He has promised to be with you and provide what you need.

As you move into the future, don’t be discouraged, worried, or intimidated by opposition or by any problem you face. Trust in God. Go forward with confidence, determined to do His will. And do not be afraid!
