Defeating Demonic Confusion

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries3 Minutes

“When the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, ‘You are the Son of God.’ But he gave them strict orders not to tell who he was.”
Mark 3:11-12 NIV

Wherever Jesus went, people were healed, lives were changed, and needs were met. Multitudes realized that Jesus could solve their problems, even when facing situations that seemed hopeless. As a result, “many people came to him” from the entire region. As they gathered, He “healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.”

But evil spirits were not content to let these blessings flow without a fight. They could not contend with Jesus’ power, so they fought with a weapon where they could succeed: They sowed confusion. They distracted people and filled them with doubt. But Jesus recognized the presence of these spirits, and used His spiritual authority to stop their interference.

These same demonic forces are at work in the world today. They recognize that they cannot compete with God’s power, but they can disrupt His work by sowing confusion and doubt, and seeking to mislead. They encourage us to believe that problems are too great. That God’s power is no longer available. That miracles can’t take place today. That seemingly hopeless situations really are hopeless.

We must guard against these forces, and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, remembering that Jesus gave us spiritual authority when we act in His name. That all things are possible to those with faith. As He said, “Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12).

Don’t be surprised if you experience opposition. But you don’t have to accept defeat, or be confused or discouraged. Use the authority that God has given you. Confess the promises in His Word. And remember that in Jesus’ name, you already have victory!

Prayer: Father, help me to be alert against any attempts of demonic forces to sow confusion or disrupt my life. I will not accept defeat. I declare victory! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
