Craving God's Promises

Craving God’s Promises

“The mind of the prudent is ever getting knowledge, and the ear of the wise is ever seeking — inquiring for and craving — knowledge.” Proverbs 18:15 Amplified Bible

The Bible teaches that each of us is given unique resources and gifts. And that God gives each person special assignments. But we also have the responsibility to decide what to do with these gifts. How we will respond to our opportunities.

Paul was concerned because some Believers didn’t understand these truths. Many simply were lazy. Others were like “infants” who had never grown up. But God wanted them to mature, to be ready for “solid food.” Yet, like babies, they continued just drinking “milk” (1 Corinthians 3:2).

Solomon encouraged a similar sense of initiative. He knew that we all have choices, but that some people stagnate and miss many blessings God has prepared for them.

He said that, if we are prudent, we will be eager to learn, and apply what we have learned. We will seek to mature in our relationship with God, and let Him give us more insights. We will crave His knowledge, praying and asking God to open our eyes. We will hunger to know His Word and meditate on His promises.

These principles apply in every stage of life. No matter how much we know, there is more wisdom God can give us, and more He can teach us. There are new perspectives and answers to problems that we have never even considered. He can show us new strategies and tactics that can revolutionize our lives. And He can reveal new resources to us.

If we are wise, we will seek God and crave after knowledge. We will pour ourselves into His Word. We will pray diligently and spend time with Him. And we will apply what He teaches us.

Today, remember that you serve a Big God. And there is much more He can reveal about His Kingdom, His truth, and His wisdom.

Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see more of Your truth. Give me a craving to gain Your knowledge and to be filled with Your promises. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
