Confessing the Word

David faced many problems and adversaries. But, through these experiences, he learned that God’s ways were not just acceptable—they were perfect. This meant that he learned to trust God, realizing the Lord had a fantastic plan for his life.

David understood that God was with him, to guide and provide for him all along the way. As long as he looked to Him, David knew that God would shield him against every kind of attack.

David also was convinced that God’s promises were true. Not just some of them, but all of them.

This is a life-changing revelation. Many of us have read God’s Word. We have gone to church and heard the Word. We even may have studied the Word on our own. Yet there is a deeper dimension, where we’re willing to put aside everything else and base our lives on His Word. Rather than merely knowing His promises, we believe and act on them.

How do we do this? First, we must know the Word and hide it in our hearts. This means readying and studying the Scriptures.

But we also must speak the Word. This involves more than just knowing His promises in our minds. We must confess them and declare them to be true.

Why does this have an impact? As we confess His Word, our faith grows. We learn to think God’s thoughts instead of the twisted views of the world around us.

Today, make a commitment to declare that God’s promises are true in your life. Confess that He desires for you to “prosper in all things and be in health” (3 John 1:2)…that He wants to give you His wisdom (James 1:5)…that He wants you to experience “the riches of His glorious inheritance” and His “incomparably great power” (Ephesians 1:18-19)…and that He will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19). Stand on the promises of His Word!
