Choosing the Master Who Leads to Life

Choosing the Master Who Leads to Life urges you to give your heart fully to God and live free from the grip of sin’s control.

“Our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin” (Romans 6:6).

Ancient Rome depended on slavery for its very existence. Some estimate that as many as one in six of the inhabitants of the empire was a slave.

Thus, when Paul wrote to the Romans about slavery, they understood it. Many of these Christians probably had been slaves. But Paul said all of us are slaves: “You are slaves of the one whom you obey” (v. 16).

So the question is, whom will we choose to serve? Whom will be our master? What power or person are we allowing to influence and control our lives?

Some set their hopes on money and power, and their lives are dominated by their resources and possessions. Some focus on their careers and become slaves to work. Many choose a life of sin, hoping to gain pleasure and profit—but they fail to realize that being a slave to sin leads to death and separation from God.

When we surrender to Him, everything changes. We serve Him and His Kingdom. He becomes our Master, and He gives us the desire and power to do what is right to receive His blessings!

Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Where is your treasure? Whom do you serve with your life and the resources God gave you? Choose to obey God, and surrender your life to Him.
