Celebrate God’s Faithfulness Daily

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Giving thanks reminds us to celebrate God’s faithfulness daily, declaring His goodness and proclaiming His mercy to everyone around us.

“Give thanks to the LORD! … Oh, give thanks to the LORD … ‘Gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, to give thanks to Your holy name, to triumph in Your praise’ … Heman and Jeduthun … were designated by name, to give thanks to the LORD.”—1 Chronicles 16:8, 34–35, 41 NKJV

David was filled with joy and gratitude. Israel had been through a tough time, undergoing a civil war and battles with neighbors. But God had brought victory and peace. When the ark was returned to Jerusalem, there was rejoicing and celebration.

David gave thanks for what God had done, and for Israel’s covenant relationship with the Lord honoring Him for keeping His promises.

David declared that this spirit of thanksgiving was to be a permanent part of the life of Israel. To be sure this attitude of thanksgiving remained constant, he even appointed certain men with the sole task of giving thanks to the Lord.

We, too, need to be thankful people. We can rejoice that God is with us … He is faithful … His Word is true … and He has kept His promises.

How should we react to a God like this? We must not be silent, but declare what He has done! We must sing it! Shout it! Tell of “all His wondrous works!” (v. 9)

We are called to proclaim the Good News of His salvation and “declare His glory among the nations” (v. 24). We are to acknowledge Him in every situation—in our prayer closets, church services, and wherever we are!

Remember all that God has done for you. Proclaim His greatness and faithfulness. God is sovereign, and He keeps His promises. Give thanks to Him, for He is good. His mercy endures forever!

Reflection Question: How will you intentionally express thanks to God today?

Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for all that You’ve done for me. I worship and praise You. Thank You that You keep Your promises. In Jesus’ name, amen.
