Attitudes for Your Life

As we look for direction, it can be easy to take the Bible for granted and forget the practical ways it provides the guidance we need.

With utmost clarity, the Bible reminds us to trust in God. Acknowledge and seek Him, be confident that He will make our paths clear. Cultivate an attitude of humility, remembering, “haughtiness comes before disaster, and humility before honor” (Proverbs 18:12).

Approach every project with a commitment to excellence: “Any enterprise is built by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense, and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast of the facts” (Proverbs 24:3-4 TLB).

Always be eager to learn: “The mind of the prudent is ever getting knowledge, and the ear of the wise is ever seeking (inquiring for and craving) knowledge” (Proverbs 18:15).

Remember the benefits of a good attitude: “All the days of the desponding afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and foreboding], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances]” (Proverbs 15:15).

Always be careful what you say. “From the fruit of his words a man shall be satisfied with good, and the work of a man’s hands shall come back to him” (Proverbs 12:14). Remember, “soft speech breaks down the most bonelike resistance”; always be persistent, “By long forbearing and calmness of spirit a judge or ruler is persuaded” (Proverbs 25:15).

Remember these truths. Apply them. Let them guide you.
