A Witness

A Witness

After the Israelites crossed the Jordan River, each tribe was asked to create a memorial made with stones. God knew that in the future, people would ask, “What do these stones mean?” These memorials would provide opportunities to tell their story and how He miraculously delivered them.

This was particularly important for those who had not gone through the wilderness experience. Each generation was asked to be a witness to the next and help others learn that His Word is true, so they might believe His promises for themselves.

Each of us is called to be a witness to others, including our children. We are to tell them about God and His work, teach them His Word, share what we have learned, how He has blessed and provided for us, and leave our own memorial.

Our sign can be anything that reminds us of what God has done. Stories alone are not always enough. Perhaps the most important sign is how we live. The words we speak and the things we do should make it clear to everyone, even our children, that we have had a genuine experience of God. His Word is true!

Remember that you have the opportunity to be a witness to people in your life. Seek to live so that they know the Gospel is true and Jesus changed your life. They need to know why they, too, should commit their lives to Him.
