A Boundless Love
Just how far does God’s boundless love go? Far enough to leave the ninety-nine for the one—and to give His only Son so that you could be His.
“I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me” (Song of Solomon 7:10).
The Song of Solomon describes a powerful relationship between a man and a woman—a relationship of absolute commitment, absolute love. It exemplifies the fulfillment of God’s words at the beginning of creation: “A man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).
The Bible tells us that the ideal marriage is a metaphor for the relationship God has with His people and Christ has with His bride. It’s a love so strong that God demonstrated it by giving “his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Jesus described this relationship as being like a man who if he “has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?” (Matthew 18:12). This is how much He yearns to have a love relationship with us.
As believers, we see this love in how eager He is to guide us and bless us and how He wants us to have an even more intimate relationship with Him. We also can understand how much He longs to reach the lost who have so far rejected Him or even defied Him.
Today, allow God to fill you with His love, and seek to share it with others.
