The FRUIT of Your Lips

The FRUIT of Your Lips

Your words are gate-openers. Did you know that?

When you speak, you either open a gate of praise for God to walk through or a gate of hell for the enemy to walk through. “Gate opening” isn’t optional. The only question is, “Which gate will your words open?”

If you open the gate of praise, God comes on the scene and brings life. So, if there’s a sick person who needs to be healed, a mountain that needs to be moved, or a sea that needs to be parted—the One who can do all those things shows up when the words of your mouth agree with the Word of God.

However, if your mouth speaks things contrary to the Word, you open the gate for the devil to come on the scene. Death, disease, destruction, defeat, discouragement, and depression follow in his path.

Note the words of Proverbs 18:20: “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.”

If you ever meet a truly satisfied person, you can assume that person is speaking right things, consistently speaking words of life from God’s Word.

The converse is true as well. If you meet a person who isn’t satisfied with life, it’s likely because their mouth isn’t lining up with God’s Word. The very next verse says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (v. 21).

In other words, if you understand the power of your words, you can experience the results of that power—a fruitful, satisfying life.
