Do You Believe God Can Heal?

Understanding God’s Will and Power to Heal Today

As someone who has witnessed healings on nearly every continent, I am always surprised when people ask whether God still heals today.

If you need healing, or if someone you love is believing for a miracle, here is the truth you can stand on with confidence.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

The same power that healed the sick 2,000 years ago is still at work today. That power is available to you.

Whether your need is physical healing or restoration from emotional wounds, God’s heart toward you has not changed. It is His will to heal.

God’s Will Is Revealed in Heaven

Jesus taught us how to pray.

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

Jesus did not just teach those words. He lived them.

He said He only did what He saw His Father doing (John 5:19). He understood the will of God, and He walked in the authority to bring that will to earth through healing, forgiveness, and restoration.

So what does that tell us? Look at Heaven.

There is no sickness there. There is no pain. There is no sin, no loneliness, and no suffering.

Heaven reveals God’s perfect will. When Jesus told us to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, He was showing us the heart of the Father.

God desires wholeness for His people.

Why the Battle for Healing Exists

Will there be times when you must stand in faith for your healing? Yes.

Healing is part of God’s provision, but we still live in a fallen world where we face opposition. That is why it is essential to understand who you are in Christ and the authority you have been given.

Romans 8:11 tells us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. That is not symbolic. That is power. You are not approaching God from a place of weakness. You are standing in the authority He has already given you.

Hindrances to Healing

Some people struggle with the question: If God heals, why do some remain sick?

While every situation is unique, Scripture gives us insight into some possible hindrances.

  1. Timing and perseverance in faith
Healing is not always instantaneous. There are moments when God calls us to stand, believe, and refuse to give up. Delay does not mean denial. We are called to continue to trust His Word and His character.
“For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised” (Hebrews 10:36)
  1. Unresolved sin or disobedience
At the Cross, Jesus dealt with both sin and sickness.
“He bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

Scripture also shows that repentance and alignment with God matter in our spiritual lives.

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:16).

At the same time, not all sickness is the result of personal sin.

“It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him” (John 9:3).

Sin can open the door to the enemy’s work. When we come into alignment with God through repentance and obedience, we position ourselves to receive what Christ has already provided.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). That includes sickness, oppression, and every form of bondage.

As we walk in repentance and obedience, we position our hearts to receive what God desires to do in us and through us.

Know the Truth and Stand in It

Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). At the same time, Scripture warns that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).

What you believe matters. God’s will is not hidden. He desires to heal, restore, and make whole.

Your role is to stand on that truth. Exercise your spiritual authority. Refuse to let doubt or discouragement take root. Continue to believe God’s promises over your life.

Trust God in Every Outcome

It is important to understand this as well. Even when you believe, stand in faith, and do everything you know to do, there are times when healing does not come in the way or timing you expect.

This is not a failure of your faith, and it is not a sign that God has abandoned you.

We serve a sovereign God whose ways are higher than ours. While His Word reveals His heart to heal, His purposes are not always fully seen in this mortal life. There are moments when God chooses to bring ultimate healing through eternity rather than in this present world.

Our confidence, then, is not only in what God can do or does, but in who He is.

He is good. He is faithful. He is just. And He can be trusted—completely—no matter the outcome.

A Final Word of Encouragement

If you are believing for healing today, do not lose heart. God sees you. He knows your need. He is faithful to His Word.

Stand firm, stay in faith, and keep declaring His promises.

God bless you,
