Friend, You’ve Got This: Our Three-Fold Battle Strategy

Kim CrabillBy Kim Crabill5 Minutes

Dear Lord,
So far I’m doing all right.
I’ve got this! I’m good!
I haven’t gossiped.
I haven’t lost my temper.
I’ve got this!
I haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent.
So far … today’s a breeze! I’ve so got this!
But in a few minutes, God, this alarm clock is about to sound (visual).
I’m going to have to get out of this bed.
And quite honestly … it’s a scary place out there … and I’m not so sure that
I’ve got this!

Hello friends and welcome to Strengthen Your Walk and our series titled “You’ve Got This!” I’m Kim Crabill and I’m so delighted to have you join me!

Ok, so while the words of today’s intro may have made you smile, we all know there’s a lot of truth to be found in those words. But it’s our truth, not God’s truth. No doubt that, AS we continue to strive to do what is right, to make a difference in our world through our family, community, churches, and wherever life takes us, no doubt anxious thoughts and fiery darts will pierce our mind. And WE KNOW this can begin EVEN before our feet hit the floor in the morning.

But with God’s truth in us, we can begin to switch our role from being intimidated to being THE intimidator! We can be so filled and grounded in God’s promises that when our feet hit the ground each morning the enemy says, “OH NO … SHE’S UP!”

I like to use acrostics and visuals as a way to store God’s promises to

1) Help me to remember and
2) To retrieve them easily when needed.

So, to establish the foundational truths of this study, let’s begin with a simple acrostic. Let’s use the word GOT to establish a three-fold strategy that we can assess quickly regarding the ‘how and why’ of standing firm in our battles.

G – See GOD

2 Corinthians 5:18 (NIV) says, “All this is from God.” Whatever your situation, we can remember everything is sifted through God’s hands. You may not know or understand, but that’s OK. God knows. And, when you think it’s impossible to see God, remember that Scripture says Jonah saw God in the belly of the whale. The disciples saw God in a storm and Jesus, in human form, saw God as He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness. That tells me that we have the ability to see God in our situation.

O – OPPORTUNITY

In your battles, look for the OPPORTUNITY where God wants to use you. We are emotional beings and, when we’re hurt or discouraged, our instinct is to react emotionally. But if we see challenges as an opportunity to be kind, forgiving, compassionate, brave, or to just be quiet, then we are responding and relating to others in a way that pleases God.

Colossians 4:5 says: “Conduct yourself with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders (non-believers); make the most of each opportunity, treating it as something precious.”

T – TESTIMONY

No matter our test, we are to BE A TESTIMONY for Christ. In Revelation 12:11 we read these powerful words: “They overcame him [the accuser] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” God is sending you into battle (known as the land of opportunity) to become a testimony of Jesus Christ.

By choosing to use this three-fold strategy: Seeing God, seeing the opportunity, and becoming a testimony, you can find purpose in the midst of today’s battles! You can do this … You’ve Got this … because God’s got you!

Thank you for joining me today. I hope to see you next time right here on Strengthen Your Walk.
