Bearing Burdens

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries3 Minutes

“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 NASB

It seemed like the world was against them, and they didn’t know where to turn. In the story told in the new film, Christmas in the Smokies, the Haygood family found themselves confronted by people with huge financial resources. And it appeared that there was nothing they could do to stop the commercial avalanche that seemed destined to crush them, and deprive them of the home that had been in the family for generations.

As worry and anxiety rose in their hearts, they turned to God for strength and hope. But they also realized that they didn’t have to go through these trials alone but could turn to their church and community. They discovered that friends and family cared enough to help them during this crisis.

In many ways, countless people face similar circumstances. Feeling alone and isolated. Trying to bear their burdens by themselves. This is never truer than during the Christmas season. While others celebrate, these desperate people struggle, often sinking deeper into depression.

These are times, as Believers, when we need the Body of Christ. When we need to realize that God has placed us in relationship with other Christians so we can go through life together.

In your life, do you feel overwhelmed with problems? Weighed down by burdens? Make sure that you first have turned to God, committing these needs to Him. Seeking His wisdom and peace. Filling your mind and heart with His Word. And casting your cares on Him, confident that He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7), and that He promises to meet every need.

But always remember that you are part of the Body of Christ, connected to other Believers. Sharing the same Lord. Committed to bear each other’s burdens. Always ready to do your part, to help others as God has provided for you, but also not too proud to seek the help that you need.

Prayer: Father, give me a burden for others. Help me to know You can use me in the lives of others. Help me to be a real burden-bearer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
