Enough Time?

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

“Not enough time.” A common complaint. A common excuse.

In fact, according to a recent Gallup Poll, 48% of Americans do not feel that “they have enough time to do the things they want to in their daily lives.” Parents particularly are stressed for time; 61% of adults with children under 18 say that they have too little time. In addition, 62% of adults with jobs have reached the same conclusion.

It is true that many people have busy lives, filled with personal, family, or business tasks. And, when they have free time, they indulge in hobbies or pleasures.

But how does God fit in? Many may pause for a short prayer, or spend a few moments reading the Bible or a devotional. But what does this indicate about their attitude toward Almighty God?

The Bible says that we need to “be still” before Him. We cannot be still if our minds are preoccupied, filled with other thoughts. Or if He is just an afterthought. Being still means placing our emphasis on God Himself, eliminating all distractions and focusing on Him. It means times of dedicated prayer, not rushing but waiting in His presence, listening to Him, eager to hear His still, small voice. It means reading and studying His Word, digging for truths, with a spirit of anticipation.

What role does God play in your life? Do you dedicate quality time to prayer and Bible reading? Or, in practical terms, have you squeezed Him out of your schedule?

Ask God to help you evaluate your priorities. Be ready to make changes. Don’t take Him for granted. Spending quality time with Him can lead to His blessings in all your activities. He can equip you and make you more efficient. And He can change your life.
