Jim Cantelon Today with Jim Cantelon

Jim Cantelon is a pastor, author, church-planter, and Christian television and radio personality.

Cantelon’s first book, Theology for Non-Theologians (Macmillan NY Publishers), continues to be a popular book with those who want an entry-level introduction to theology. In his book When God Stood Up: A Christian Response to AIDS in Africa (Harper Collins, 2007), Jim chronicles his experiences in Africa, confronted by the devastation of the HIV & AIDS pandemic.

A gifted teacher and communicator, Jim is a former host of Christian talk shows in Canada and the United States. These include 100 Huntley Street, Eye to Eye, and Talk to Me, a daily talk-television show Jim produced and hosted for broadcast across 14 million homes in the U.S.

Jim’s radio credits include the top-rated Canadian open-line program “Challenge.” He was also a regular host of “Voice of Hope” radio, operated out of South Lebanon by High Adventure Ministries in a high-pressure war zone.

Currently, Jim produces and hosts a national television show called Jim Cantelon Today. JCT focuses on biblical exposition with a contemporary, “user friendly” approach. In conjunction with JCT, he has written a newly published book entitled Cantelon’s Casual Commentary: A 21st Century Guide to the Life of Jesus for the Internet Generation.

Jim was born in Olds, Alberta, in 1947 and grew up in Saskatchewan and Ontario. He graduated from Central Pentecostal College and entered the pastoral ministry in 1970. He pastored churches in Montreal (1970-1972), Sudbury (1972-1976), Newmarket (1976-1981), and Broadway Church in Vancouver (1997-2000). In 1981 Jim, his wife Kathy, and their three children moved to Israel at the invitation of the Israeli government. There he pioneered Jerusalem Christian Assembly, now called King of Kings. Today it is the highest profile evangelical congregation in Israel.

He is also founder and President of WOW – Working for Orphans & Widows. WOW is a federal charity whose mission is to empower the local church in sub-Saharan Africa and southern India in the care of the sick and the dying. It is currently assisting churches in that mission by providing home-based care to vulnerable orphans and widows.

Jim and Kathy have three married children, Todd, Jess, and Kate, and 12 grandchildren.
