7 Years of Hell

Addicted to cocaine and on the brink of death, Delinda needed a miracle. Could God set her free?

Delinda’s marriage began with hope and promise—but it ended in heartbreak. The divorce left deep wounds, and little by little, bitterness and insecurity pulled her away from the Lord. What followed was a seven-year descent into darkness.

“I became a cocaine addict and dealer, and even abandoned my four children,” she recalls sadly. “Those were seven years of hell.”

As addiction tightened its grip, her body began to collapse under the weight of her choices. The damage was relentless and terrifying. “Twice I was in a coma, once my lungs collapsed, and at the age of only 35, I suffered a nearly fatal heart attack—all because of my destructive lifestyle.”

Four different doctors looked at her chart, shook their heads, and told her the same thing: “It’s a miracle you’re alive!”

Behind the scenes while Delinda was spiraling, something else was happening. Her parents—especially her mother—never stopped praying. Her sister stood in faith when Delinda could not. Though she had walked far from God, God had not walked away from her.

The turning point came on a night that should have ended her life.

“The night I had the heart attack and was rushed into surgery to have a stent put in my heart, I finally realized God wasn’t going to keep sparing my life if I continued my destructive behavior,” Delinda says. “So I gave my heart to Christ and asked Him to set me free from my addictions.”

Delinda now loves to testify of God’s goodness—how He healed her body and delivered her from drugs. Life hasn’t been perfect since that day, but everything has been transformed. Today, she can confidently proclaim, “Christ has miraculously restored hope to my life! I’m such a testimony that He can restore anyone, no matter how hopeless their life may seem.”

She later wrote to thank Inspiration Ministries for standing with her and helping strengthen her faith in those early days of her walk with Jesus.

“Today I’m a new person,” she says. “I have my children and my health back. I’m even the leader of the praise team and youth group in my church!”
