Fight from a Place of Victory

As a child of God, you have kingly authority.

The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross paid our debts fully and transferred us from the domain (rulership and authority) of darkness into the marvelous power and rule of Jesus! We are now fully active citizens of His kingdom, called to dwell in a new dimension (Ephesians 2:1-7). The picture is that we have been removed from a kingdom or place of darkness and brought into the place or space of the Kingdom of God.

We combat the powers of hell from a place of victory and authority. The enemy was successfully stripped of all rule in our lives. We can break each curse that hell tries to proclaim against us. We act as the agency of the Kingdom, ruling and reigning on earth. We do not operate from fear or defeat but from a place of strength and victory (Colossians 3:1-3).

Numbers 23:8 asks a straightforward question, “How can a man curse what God has already blessed?” The answer is we cannot. This is where we get our strength in rising against word curses. What is a word curse? Let’s begin with the definition of the word curse, which, according to Oxford’s online dictionary, is “a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something.’’

Everything in the spirit realm is created and established by words. God creates by words. The enemy establishes demonic powers and influence by words. Prophets and prophetic people release spiritual utterances, speaking words that build, create, and establish. The mouths of prophets are instruments of building. Believers operate in kingly authority as we declare and proclaim. This is the mission of God’s sons and daughters. Our mouths are gateways (Proverbs 18:6-8; Proverbs 18:21; Psalm 45:1).

How can we effectively break a word curse? The first step is recognizing it. Are any negative words spoken over you trying to pluck up the seeds God has planted in your life? Has anyone ever made any demonic pronouncements over your life, family, or ministry? Discern the curses. Once you have seen the hand of the enemy at work, you must break it. You break it by renouncing it.

You use the words of your mouth, empowered by the Holy Spirit through the authority of Jesus, to declare those word curses null and void. Break all association with those word curses. Boldly declare that those words are ineffective, and cut every tie in the realm of the Spirit. Then, confess the Scriptures! Find a Scripture verse or verses that apply to the area in which you were cursed. Speak the blessing of God over your life; speak the Word of God. If a curse of sickness was released by someone, speak healing verses and command your body to receive the life of God. When you release the blessing, the curse must fall.

Many voices will try to speak to you, to either empower your seed or hinder it. You must use discernment to heed the right voices while cutting off the wrong ones (John 10:1-6).

Jesus’ voice is a clear, consistent gift in the life of a believer. It fuels our seed, arms us for victory, and empowers us to win. He is always speaking, even when we don’t feel it. We must learn to tune out the static and listen for His still, small voice speaking truth and clarity over our lives.
