‘Beyond My Expectations’ – A Personal Testimony of God’s Faithfulness

Ever notice that our God doesn’t just want to bless us? He wants to bless us beyond our expectations…beyond what we could ever hope or imagine. I was reminded of that fact just recently when God did something so extraordinary for me, so profound and personal, that it went beyond my expectations…in fact, it was a miracle.

On a Monday morning, August 27th of this year, I had a whole range of medical tests done, including EKGs, chest x-rays, ultra sounds of my vital organs, and various blood panels. I had changed doctors and was advised to take these tests, not because there was any health issue or scare, but so my new doctor could get an accurate picture of my overall health.

In the course of these tests, I had an ultra sound done on my kidneys and bladder. Everything went very routinely, and I left expecting to hear the results within several days. However, that Monday afternoon about 2 pm, my doctor personally called me on my cell phone.

She said that the tests revealed a 1.9 cm (or about ¾ inch) mass on my right kidney lobe and that it was critical I come in as soon as possible to do an MRI. Now, it’s one thing for a nurse or receptionist to call you about your medical report, but when the doctor herself calls, you know it’s an urgent matter. I immediately started to pray and believe God for a miracle.

My doctor happens to be a Nephrologist, a kidney doctor, so she is very knowledgeable about these tests and what they can mean. Although her staff wasn’t able to schedule me for an MRI immediately because of the backlog of patients, my doctor kept trying because of the seriousness of the situation. Thankfully, she found an opening for me that Sunday, the day before Labor Day.

I went in and had the MRI done at 5pm in the afternoon. I was anticipating hearing something Monday, even though it was Labor Day, but to my disappointment, no word came, so I went to bed that night, with a whirlwind of thoughts in my head. I was apprehensive, sure, but I could also feel the prayers of others, including Inspiration partners, staff, and friends, lifting me up and undergirding my spirit.

It wasn’t until the next afternoon that I got the news. My doctor, texted me in bold faced capital letters saying: NO MASS!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! You can imagine my excitement and relief after seeing this message. Not only was the mass not malignant but it was completely gone from my body. Hallelujah!

In answer to prayer, the Lord went beyond my expectations…beyond what I could even think or imagine. Even now I’m overcome with the thoughts of His love and faithfulness. I prayed that the mass on my kidney would be benign, but God went a step beyond that request and removed it altogether. What a mighty God we serve!

I immediately felt compelled to share this testimony of God’s goodness with you. This is my encouragement to you today, my friend. Don’t ever doubt the power of God to work miracles in your life. No matter what you’re going through you can trust our God with the answer. Whether it’s your health, your marriage, negative reports, whatever it may be… always keep praying, asking and exercising your faith. Whatever He did for me, He will do for you.

Believe the impossible, and trust our Father to do the impossible! He cares for you. He loves you. And, He wants to bless you beyond what you can ever hope or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
