Take Time to Remember

David CerulloBy David Cerullo2 Minutes

The Bible speaks of the greatest love a person can demonstrate on this earth:

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13)

To be a soldier is to offer one’s self up to the possibility of making the ultimate sacrifice – and to give the greatest love.

This love carries with it a price, not only to the soldier, but also to those who love him or her. The families of the fallen are impacted forever, and their sacrifice never ends.

That is why we have a Memorial Day, to remember the love and sacrifice of the soldiers who have died defending our freedom – and of the sacrifices made by their families.

I thank God for the freedom we enjoy in America. I believe it is also fitting and proper to thank those who bought and paid for that freedom with their lives in the past; those who protect it in the present; and those who will defend it in the future.

As we commemorate the brave soldiers we have lost, I pray that you will also take a few minutes to pray for their families. If you know a family who has lost a loved one, I encourage you to reach out to them on this solemn day.

If you have lost a loved one who was in our armed forces, I pray that God will give you an extra portion of His grace as you remember that dear one today.

God bless,
