Your Unique Ministry

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Are you fulfilling the unique ministry that God has placed on your life?

“The word of the LORD which came to Micah … in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah … Hear, you peoples, all of you; listen carefully, earth and all it contains, and may the Lord GOD be a witness against you.”—Micah 1:1–2 NASB

God called Micah to speak His Word at a unique time in history. Others had a similar call, including Isaiah (Isaiah 1:1) and Hosea (Hosea 1:1). He might have been tempted to compare his prophecies with their messages or his ministry with theirs. It would have been easy for Micah to be influenced by what other leaders said.

But Micah realized God had given him a message that was distinct and personal. His assignment was to be faithful to God’s call, to say what He wanted him to say, to do what He wanted him to do, and not to worry about what anyone else might be saying or doing.

Just as with Micah, God wants us to remember that everything we have comes from Him: our ideas and thoughts, skills and abilities, words and deeds. This means we need to depend on God for everything, submit our lives to Him, seek His will, dedicate ourselves to Him, and fulfill His call on our lives.

God’s call on your life is unique. You have a distinct history and personality, and He has a special destiny and assignment just for you!

Commit your life to God. Be ready to be used by Him to speak His words with your voice. Don’t be paralyzed by worry or comparisons. Be faithful to follow and obey Him, and be the unique servant He has called you to be.

Reflection Question: How are you using your unique voice in ministry?
