Your Heavenly Account

You may not realize it but you have an account in Heaven. No, you are not saved by your financial gifts, or the things you have done. There is nothing you can do to earn salvation or buy your way into Heaven. The Bible makes clear that we are saved by grace alone (Ephesians 2:8). That Jesus paid the total price that our sins might be forgiven, and that we might have eternal life.

But the Bible also teaches that we will be rewarded in Heaven for the things that we do here on earth. Paul, in fact, told the Philippians that he was seeking that they would experience increases to their personal account.

How did they make deposits? When they sent gifts to support his ministry. His goal was not “the gift itself” but “the profit which increases to your account.”

In our lives, there are many ways in which we can make deposits in our Heavenly account. Every time we sow a “seed” into God’s Kingdom, He makes a deposit into our account. Someday, we will reap the rewards of what we have done for Him in this life.

In your life, allow God to show you what “seeds” He has given you. What talents or abilities? What ways can you contribute to His Kingdom? What resources has He given you that you can share with others? It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor by the world’s standards. God has given you “seeds” to sow. Just think of all the ways you can sow into His Kingdom!

Today, seek to make investments into your Heavenly account with what God has given you. Remember, it will pay dividends in this life, and into eternity.
