What God Means to Me

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”—Psalm 27:1 ESV

This psalm celebrates all God meant to David. He realized that God was his light, giving him direction and perspective. David knew God had saved him and prepared the way before him. He gave David freedom from fear and poverty, mistakes, and deceptions. God gave him the attitude he needed to prosper in abundant ways.

David realized that God shows us what to do and gives us the power and ability to do it. David knew, “The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (v. 1). The Lord is a fortified place where he could be safe against any foe.

When he was surrounded by enemies, David realized that he had no reason to fear. He could not depend on others, but he could trust completely in God. Our faith and confidence come in the face of the war against us. Then we can help others to gain confidence to win their wars and win our wars together.

All these things were what God meant to David. He had come to depend on Him. This serves as an inspiration for all the things God can mean to us.

Today, look to God and let Him be your light and salvation. Allow Him to take away your fears. Take refuge in Him. Be confident in Him. Realize that in every situation, He is your salvation!
