Walk in Integrity

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Follow David’s example to walk in integrity every day.

“Vindicate me, LORD, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.”Psalm 26:1 NASB

David confidently asked for vindication. Why? Because he had walked in integrity. He “trusted in the LORD,” remained steadfast, and refused to waver. When he faced enemies, he called on God, confident that his heart was clean.

But David also knew that God must search his life: “Examine me, LORD, and put me to the test; refine my mind and my heart” (v. 2). He recognized the danger of harboring hidden sins.

David ended the psalm by stating his determination to “walk in my integrity” (v. 11), confident that his feet were standing “on level ground” (v. 12). To keep from slipping into sin, he kept God’s goodness constantly before him (v. 3) and washed his hands “in innocence” (v. 6).

David was also careful about his relationships and would not “sit with deceitful people” or “go with pretenders” (v. 4). He hated “the assembly of evildoers” (v. 5) and chose instead to spend his time in God’s house, “the place where Your glory remains” (v. 8).

His life was focused on serving God: “I will go around Your altar, LORD” (v. 6). His desire was to “proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving and declare all Your wonders” (v. 7). He sought to be in congregations of God’s people where he could “bless the LORD” (v. 12).

Today, focus on living a life of integrity, spent on obeying and pleasing God. Make sure your heart is clean in His sight.

Reflection Question: How can you practically walk in integrity each day this week?
