Useless Sowing

The Bible promises that we Reap what we Sow (Galatians 6:7). But there also are conditions. Jesus taught that results can vary, depending on the soil where we Sow. If we want an abundant Harvest, we need to Sow into good soil, not wasting what God has given us (Matthew 13:3-9).

God also told the children of Israel that His blessings are conditional. If we obey Him and His Word, then He promises to bless, protect, and direct us…to remove worry and fear…and to give us peace and an abundant Harvest.

But God warned that those who disobey should expect not His blessings, but a series of problems (vs. 14-15). He bluntly said that their Sowing would be “useless”—a waste of time. They would watch as their Harvest was consumed by others, particularly their adversaries.

This principle is true in every area of our lives: finances and health, spiritual lives and relationships, emotions and thoughts. It’s true for individuals, as well as organizations, churches, and nations.

Do you want an abundant Harvest in your life? Make sure that Jesus truly is your Lord. Be certain that you are seeking first His Kingdom and righteousness, living in obedience to His Word, and seeking to fulfill His calling.

Then, look at the “Seeds” (the time, talent, and treasure) God has given you. Seek opportunities to Sow these Seeds into Good Ground. As you obey God and are faithful, you can expect an abundant Harvest!
