Unchanging Truth

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

God’s Word presents unchanging truth that we need to obey every day.

“Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment.”—Leviticus 5:17 NASB

Some competitors like to say, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’.”

Many people have this same attitude. We look around and see people who appear to have gained wealth and power by cheating and lying. They don’t hesitate to deceive others or act without moral constraints. They excuse themselves and believe that the end justifies the means.

Even Christians can find themselves following these examples and imitating the world and its corrupt ways. But God wants us to understand that we have a higher standard.

We see this when God said people who disobeyed His Law were guilty, even when they were unaware that they had sinned. Why? Because they broke the Law. It was that simple. They were held responsible for their actions.

We see this in the physical laws of the universe—the law of gravity functions whether or not we agree with it or even are conscious of it. In the same way, God’s laws and principles are always true. We will pay the consequences if we violate His Law, and this is an important reason to know His Word!

Today, commit to stand on God’s Word. Be honest, and let others see that you are a person of principle. Do not compromise, cheat, or deceive. Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no (Matthew 5:37). Pleasing God is more important than winning in this world.

Reflection Question: Reflect on a time when you’ve been able to stand firm against the enemy.

Prayer
God, I believe Your Word is true! Help me to stand firm and not give in to compromise. I seek first Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
