Trust God for Victory

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

When you’re in the midst of a spiritual battle, trust God for victory!

“They were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were handed over to them; for they cried out to God in the battle, and He answered their prayers because they trusted in Him.”—1 Chronicles 5:20 NASB

The tribes of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh had made war against four groups who were entrenched in the land. Based on every human standard, these Israelites should have been defeated even though they were “valiant men” who “were skillful in battle” (v. 18). However, they had one decisive advantage: God was on their side.

Yet instead of taking God’s blessings for granted, the Israelites cried out to Him during the battle. They didn’t trust in their weapons or skills, their wisdom or resources—they simply “trusted in Him.”

Because they prayed and trusted in God, they didn’t have to fear. God took away their burdens and concerns and brought them victory. The Bible tells us their victory was complete! They possessed the land and gained abundant cattle, camels, sheep, and donkeys.

How often do we fail to achieve victory because we carry the burdens ourselves, trusting in our own resources and strength rather than committing our needs to God? Following the example of these Israelites, we must learn to pray, call on God, entrust our burdens to Him, and realize He is with us in every battle we face.

God is ready to bring you victory, but you must commit your battles to Him. Pray and seek His help. Obey His Word and trust in Him.

He is with you in every situation. Turn to Him in faith today!
