Tilling the Land

Tilling the Land

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

The Bible teaches the importance of being diligent. We should realize that God has given each of us resources and desires to multiply these resources. But this increase only comes after we invest what He has given us.

The Bible often uses the example of farmers to illustrate principles. Farmers who do nothing will not reap a harvest. Crops cannot grow unless farmers prepare the soil, sow seeds, and water. They cannot just think about these things but must act and work hard. Those who work “will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty” (NIV).

To encourage diligence, the Bible declares that “the hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops” (2 Timothy 2:6).

The Bible reminds us of the importance of investing what God has given us. Realize that, if we do nothing, fruit will not appear on its own.

We are to be constant in investing our seeds and developing our resources. As Jesus taught, we are to invest the talents that He has given us, not hide them, but use them to bring about an increase (Matthew 25:14-30).

Today, dedicate yourself to till the land, to work and serve, and to invest the resources God has given you. Give of your time, talents, and treasures. Be His witness. And realize that you have been blessed, so you might be a blessing.
